2+2+2 I.T. Security Education Program
2+2+2 is a new IT Security Education program developed by Misericordia University, Luzerne County Community university, and West Side Area Vocational-Technical School and has expanded to include Tunkhannock. The 2 + 2 + 2 approach allows students to take 2 years of IT focused classes as a high school student at West Side Area Vocational School or Tunkhannock Area High School. Students then can take an additional 2 years of IT classes at Luzerne County Community university to earn an associate's degree in cyber security. Students can complete the pipeline by attending Misericordia University for 2 years to receive a bachelor's degree in Information Technology.
At West Side Area Vocation-Technical School, students take classes such as:

- CompTIA's Security
- HTML
At Luzerne County Community College, students take classes such as:
- Microcomputer Maintenance
- Cyber Crime
- Network Security Issues
- Workstation Security Issues
At Misericordia University, students take classes such as:
- Introduction to Information Technology Security
- Security Management and Risk Assessment
- Access Controls, Security Models, and Cryptology
- Information Technology Privacy and Legal Issues
- Physical Security and Disaster Recovery
- Current Issues and Trends in Cyber Security
How do I enroll?
To enter at the high school level, you must be of high school age and a resident of one of the West Side Area Vocational-Technical School school districts or a student at Tunkhannock Area High School. If so, see your guidance counselor for more information. To enroll in the new associate's degree program at Luzerne County Community College or in the bachelor's degree program at Misericordia University, you must meet the standard admission requirements of the institution.
