School of Engineering, Mathematics, and ScienceFor Young Women An exciting event to mark on your calendar is our first ever "Expanding Your Horizons Conference" on Saturday, October 13, 2007. A typical Expanding Your Horizons conference is attended by 200 young women from nearby middle schools. The schedule includes a keynote address encouraging girls to persist in mathematics and science courses, and the opportunity for each participant to take part in 3-4 different workshops that each last about one hour during the day, led by women scientists, mathematicians, and engineers. They will also get to hear role models share career awareness information and discuss job satisfaction, necessary education, and descriptions of a typical day on the job. In addition, we will also be expanding the conference to include workshops for parents of the participating girls. More information about this event will become available this summer. CONTACT:
