PLSG's Mobile Laboratory Travels to Biotechnology Class at Greater Johnstown CTC

On January 31, 2008, Biotechnology students at the Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center participated in a "Research to Go" project sponsored by the Pittsburgh Life Science Greenhouse (PLSG).  Mr. Thomas Seiflein, Assistant Outreach Coordinator at the University of Pittsburgh, instructed the lessons taught in the mobile laboratory.research_to_go.jpg
According to PLSG, mobile laboratories are self-contained, traveling laboratories that accommodate student participation in laboratory investigations on board the mobile laboratory unit.  The mobile lab facilities feature state-of-the-art science laboratory and computer technology.
PLSG's mobile laboratory travels to schools throughout the region to expose students to hands-on opportunities in the life sciences and motivates them to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math.  The PLSG has developed five curricular modules that science teachers can incorporate into their lessons, both before and after a visit from the mobile laboratory.  A second lab on board PLSG's mobile laboratory is planned for spring 2008.
